Community Acupuncture

Inner Well is excited to offer community acupuncture at Sanctuary Yoga and Meditation!

What is community acupuncture?

Experience the benefit of a shared healing experience in the calm and tranquil main studio at Sanctuary Yoga and Meditation. Community acupuncture is a model of acupuncture treatment within a group setting that is offered at affordable rates. Our sliding scale makes it possible for you to come in for treatment as often as you like.

How does it work?

During clinic hours the studio will be set up to treat two to five people at a time in comfortable zero gravity reclining chairs. We are able to use acupuncture points on the arms, legs, and head to treat any condition. Therefore, you can easily be treated by rolling up your clothing to your elbows and knees. Appointment times are staggered so you will have a chance to check in with your practitioner privately at the beginning of each session. Community acupuncture allows for longer sessions facilitating deep relaxation and a much needed pause from the stresses of daily life. An added benefit to receiving acupuncture in a group setting is that it can enhance the healing experience while strengthening community ties. Since acupuncture is aimed at restoring balance in the body, it is a gentle, effective and affordable way of maintaining good health as well as helping to manage countless conditions including:

● Gastrointestinal Issues

● Autoimmune/Complex Illness

● Women’s Health

Dr. Irit Cohen L.Ac., DAcCHM

Irit’s journey with Chinese medicine began when she had her first visit with an acupuncturist at the age of nineteen. After having suffered health challenges throughout childhood with no relief from conventional medicine, she decided to seek out alternative treatment. The welcoming and warm atmosphere was unlike any experience she had with other health care providers and she was amazed at the level of compassion the acupuncturist exhibited. This engagement was very empowering for her after decades of feeling untreatable as a patient, but more importantly, she experienced palpable results without side effects after the very first treatment. In that moment she was inspired to dedicate her life to the knowledge and practice of Chinese medicine.

Irit has a particular interest in working with patients who suffer from complex illness patterns although she is passionate about supporting anyone on their wellness journey. As the aim of Chinese medicine is to restore balance, Chinese medicine is effective in treating countless conditions.

Irit has a Master’s degree and a clinical Doctorate in Chinese medicine from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. Irit considers herself to be on a lifelong learning journey. Some of Irit’s other explorations include Traditional/Medical Astrology, Sound HealingTaoism, and embodiment practices. Irit’s treatment approach includes modalities such as Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal medicine, nutritional and lifestyle recommendations, as well as Qigong instruction. Irit has found that it is often the simplest solutions that bring about the most profound change.
